Belfast's Window on Wildlife is a unique city-centre nature reserve that offers a blend of rugged trails and stunning views from its modern visitor centre. This reserve encompasses four distinct areas: Belfast’s Window on Wildlife, Holywood Banks, Whitehouse Lagoon, and Harbour Meadows, the latter of which is not currently open to the public. Holywood Banks features one of the last remaining mudflats in the area, providing crucial feeding grounds for migratory birds. Visitors can expect to see a diverse range of wildlife throughout the year, with notable peaks in sightings during April. Look out for Shelduck, Moorhen, and Oystercatcher, which are frequently observed, especially around midnight. Other species such as Eurasian Curlew and Teal also make appearances, with the best times for viewing often around early morning or late evening.
