Aghatirourke is a stunning reserve located in Cuilcagh Mountain Park, County Fermanagh, characterised by its wild, rugged hills and expansive blanket bog. This area features rolling green scenery and breathtaking views, making it a prime destination for experienced hillwalkers. The reserve's varied habitats, including limestone grassland and montane heath, support a diverse range of wildlife, while its designation as a valuable carbon and water store highlights its ecological significance. Visitors to Aghatirourke can expect to see a variety of bird species, particularly in the spring and summer months. Look out for Wheatears and Sand Martins during spring, while summer brings the chance to spot Hen Harriers and Peregrines. Notably, September is a peak month for sightings, with activity best observed around 01:00, when species like Swallows and Reed Buntings are most active.
