Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve is a coastal gem located on the north-east coast of Scotland, near Golspie. This NNR features a rich variety of habitats, including an extensive tidal basin, coastal habitats, and native Scots pine forest, making it an internationally significant wildlife area. Visitors can explore diverse landscapes, from sandy beaches to woodland paths, all teeming with life throughout the year. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a range of species, particularly during peak observation times. September is the best month for sightings, with waders like Eurasian Curlew and Oystercatcher active around midnight. In spring, look for Osprey and Sandwich Tern at dusk in April. Other notable species include Red Kite in February and Red-breasted Merganser in January, offering varied opportunities for birdwatching across the seasons.
