Glasdrum Wood National Nature Reserve, located on the edge of Loch Creran, is a remnant of ancient Western Atlantic oakwoods. Visitors to Glasdrum Wood can look forward to spotting a variety of butterflies, particularly in May when species like the Chequered Skipper and Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary are most active. Other highlights include the Golden-ringed Dragonfly and various birds such as the Willow Warbler and Blackbird, which also peak in May. The best time for wildlife observation is typically around 01:00, making early morning visits particularly rewarding.
