Cairnsmore of Fleet National Nature Reserve (NNR) is a stunning area in south-west Scotland, known for its wild landscapes and diverse habitats. Accessible to all, it offers a variety of walking trails that showcase breathtaking views over a patchwork of muted colours. The reserve is also a hub for outdoor learning and volunteering, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts. Wildlife enthusiasts can look out for a range of species, particularly in July when activity peaks. Notable sightings include the Brown Hare and Stonechat, both best observed around 01:00. Other highlights include the Willow Warbler and Whinchat in April, as well as the Chaffinch and Mistle Thrush in February. With its rich biodiversity, Cairnsmore of Fleet is a fantastic location for birdwatching and exploring the natural world.
