Blawhorn Moss National Nature Reserve is a remarkable lowland peatbog located near Blackridge, Scotland. This National Nature Reserve (NNR) features a unique landscape of open moors and is one of the best-preserved examples of raised and blanket bogs in central Scotland. Visitors can explore the reserve via a boardwalk, allowing for close encounters with its diverse habitats while preserving the delicate ecosystem beneath their feet. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to a variety of species, particularly in August when many plants and ferns, such as Lady-fern and Harebell, are at their peak. The reserve is also home to dragonflies and damselflies near the boardwalk pools. For birdwatchers, December is an excellent time to spot Pink-footed Geese and Goldeneyes. Overall, August stands out as the best month for wildlife activity, especially around 01:00.
