Wren's Nest National Nature Reserve

Wren's Nest National Nature Reserve, located in the Dudley Metropolitan Borough of the West Midlands, is a geological Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. This area is significant for its rich geological features and diverse habitats, including locally rare flora such as small scabious, milkwort, and quaking grass. The reserve also serves as a crucial hibernation site for seven species of bats, making it a vital location for both geological and biological conservation. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of bird species, with notable peaks in observations occurring in February, particularly around midnight. Look out for Great Tits and Woodpigeons during this time, alongside Blue Tits in January and Robins and Blackbirds in May. The reserve also hosts occasional sightings of Great Spotted Woodpeckers in October and Bullfinches in December, offering a unique experience for visitors throughout the year.
