Rostherne Mere National Nature Reserve

Rostherne Mere National Nature Reserve is located in Cheshire, England, and encompasses the largest of the Cheshire meres, covering 48 hectares. This natural lake, with a maximum depth of 30 metres, is surrounded by woodland and pasture, making it a vital habitat for various wildlife. The reserve is designated as a national nature reserve, Ramsar site, and Site of Special Scientific Interest, highlighting its ecological significance. Visitors can expect to see a variety of bird species throughout the year, with peak activity in January when Blue Tits, Woodpigeons, and Goldfinches are frequently observed. Notable sightings include the Reed Warbler in September and the Buzzard in November.
