Nant Irfon National Nature Reserve

Nant Irfon National Nature Reserve is a stunning national nature reserve located in the hills above the Afon Irfon valley near Abergwesyn, Powys, Wales. Characterised by vast moorlands and striking conifer forests, the reserve features steep slopes and rocky crags adorned with oak woodland, some of the highest in Wales. In late spring, the woodland floor is transformed by vibrant swathes of bluebells, creating a picturesque landscape. Wildlife enthusiasts can look for species such as the Common Sandpiper and Common Frog, with peak activity for the latter occurring in March. The best time to observe these species is around 01:00, particularly in June for the sandpiper and March for the frog. Additionally, Eyebright can be spotted in July, adding to the reserve's biodiversity.
