Ludham & Potter Heigham Marshes National Nature Reserve

Ludham & Potter Heigham Marshes National Nature Reserve spans 101.5 hectares and is located north-east of Norwich in Norfolk, England. Recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, this area is also a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade I, and part of the Broadland Ramsar site and Special Protection Area. The reserve features rich grazing marsh and dykes, supporting diverse aquatic flora and fauna, particularly dragonflies, making it a vital wetland habitat. Visitors can expect to see a variety of wildlife throughout the year, with notable sightings including the Black-headed Gull and Brown Hawker dragonfly peaking in August and July, respectively. The best time for observation is around 01:00, when activity is highest. Other species of interest include the Hairy Dragonfly in May and Reed Bunting in February, offering opportunities for nature enthusiasts to explore the vibrant ecosystem at different times of the year.
