Highbury Wood National Nature Reserve

Highbury Wood National Nature Reserve is a 50.74-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest located in Gloucestershire. Designated in 1983, it is recognised for its rich biodiversity and is also listed as a Key Wildlife Site in the Forest of Dean Local Plan Review, making it an important area for conservation and wildlife enthusiasts. Visitors to Highbury Wood can look forward to a variety of bird species, particularly in January when activity peaks with sightings of Great Tits, Goldfinches, and Blackbirds. October is also notable for Blue Tits and Robins, while the best time to observe Kingfishers is in April.
