Duncombe Park National Nature Reserve

Duncombe Park National Nature Reserve, located just south-west of Helmsley in North Yorkshire, encompasses 300 acres of parkland within the North York Moors National Park. This historic estate, once the seat of the Duncombe family, features a striking house originally completed in 1713, which has undergone various renovations over the years. While the house itself is not open to the public, visitors can explore the 30-acre garden from April to the end of August. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to a variety of species, particularly in April when activity peaks. Notable sightings include the Yellow Wagtail, Great Tit, Blackbird, and Toothwort, all best observed during this month. For those interested in ladybirds, the 7-spot Ladybird and Larch Ladybird can be spotted in September and November, respectively.
