Cors Geirch National Nature Reserve

Cors Geirch National Nature Reserve is a significant wetland area located on the Llŷn Peninsula, between Nefyn and Pwllheli in Wales. Managed by Natural Resources Wales, this reserve features diverse habitats, including bogs and woodlands, which burst into colour during spring with primroses, wood anemone, and bluebells. The site is also home to a variety of insects, notably the rare marsh fritillary butterfly, and is drained by the Afon Rhyd-hir, flowing towards the sea. Wildlife enthusiasts can look for species such as Red Kites and Cetti's Warblers, which are most active in March. Other notable sightings include Dunlins and various dragonflies, with peak activity times generally around 01:00. Visiting in March offers the best chance to observe a range of wildlife, including the striking Southern Hawker dragonfly and the vibrant 7-spot Ladybird.
