Corrieshalloch Gorge National Nature Reserve

Corrieshalloch Gorge National Nature Reserve, located in the Scottish Highlands about 20 kilometres south of Ullapool, features a dramatic gorge approximately 1.5 km long and 60 metres deep. The gorge is carved by the Abhainn Droma and opens into a glacial trough at Loch Broom, showcasing the stunning 46-metre Falls of Measach. Managed by the National Trust for Scotland and NatureScot, this reserve offers breathtaking views and rich geological features. Wildlife enthusiasts can look for species such as the Robin and Chaffinch, with peak sightings occurring in May and September, respectively. October is the standout month for wildlife activity, particularly for Red Squirrels and the Green Silver-lines moth, with optimal observation times around 01:00. Visitors are encouraged to explore during these peak periods for the best chance to experience the reserve's diverse fauna.
