Termoncarragh Meadows is a stunning nature reserve featuring species-rich semi-improved grasslands and coastal pasture. Located in a remote area, it is particularly renowned for its management practices that support the breeding of Corncrakes during summer. The reserve is also designated for its ecological significance, attracting various bird species, including Skylarks, Wheatears, and Ravens along the coastal cliffs, while winter visitors include Barnacle Geese, Peregrines, Choughs, and Rock Doves. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to observing a variety of species throughout the year, with the best time to hear the elusive Corncrake being during the summer months, especially at night when their distinctive call can be heard. Although sightings data is limited, August is noted as a peak month for activity, particularly around 01:00. Visitors are encouraged to view the reserve from surrounding roads to minimize disturbance to the wildlife, as there are no facilities on-site and dogs are not permitted.
